My Heart Breaks...

Chun Yan's best friend, Calliandra (Chun Bin), is with her forever family now. Bethel is not the first stop for these kids. They have all at one time, lived in a Chinese orphanage. Some for a long time, some for a very short time. Chun Yan was at an orphanage in the Henan province for the first 2 years of her life. The past 6 have been at Bethel. I doubt she has any real memories of the orphanage. I am not sure how long Calli was at her orphanage, but for the past few years she has been at Bethel, and has THRIVED!!!

Well, for some reason, her orphanage required her adoptive family to pick her up there, rather than Bethel. Bethel and the adoption agency tried to fight it, but nothing changed. So, 2 weeks ago Calli and one of her teachers from Bethel made the trip back to her orphanage. The teacher stayed with her for a few days, and then had to return to Bethel. Can you even imagine how scary, sad, upset, confused...that would make a child feel!!!??? You don't know anyone there...you probably aren't getting as much to eat...no one else is blind...you can't go to school...your friends aren't there...on and on...

Well, Bill and Heather, Calli's adoptive parents, picked her up yesterday, and she has been very sad and upset ever since. Calli knows Bill and Heather...they have been Skyping for over a year now, and will talk for almost 2 hours every week. She is so sad...with all of these recent changes...she has to be sooooo emotionally confused!

If you want, go over to Heather's blog, and see the slide of her 1st day with them. While you look at the images, please pray for little Calli and her confused heart!!! She is 8, she knows what is going on, and how her life will never be the same. Mourning is good...That means that attachment is right around the corner, but it is so sad while you are in the middle of it!

They will return to Bethel next week, and hopefully that will help the healing process too!

Adoption is great...But...there are so many layers to it, and none of them exist without pain...

wow- that is just a rotten deal that they did that... obviously not in the best interest of the child's emotions...

Howdy!
We were slightly more blessed than I'd anticipated as Hou Mama stayed with her to the end. Read what Debi said about WenJun and Hou Mama, wise words.
We talked w/Jenna and rosanna tonight and she was so much more animated and she has been talking so much more and been happier, we are blessed!
